Trainer Spotlight: Rahmel

This week we’re turning our Trainer Spotlight on Rahmel!

I’m originally from…
BROOKLYN!

I came to New York for/because…
I’m a native New Yorker. After living outside of NYC for a brief stint, I realized there was no place like home.

I got into fitness because…
I was introduced to fitness/wellness when I moved to Los Angeles. The gym ultimately became a place where I worked out, de-stressed, laughed with others, and socialized. After working with my own personal trainer out there, I decided I wanted to pursue fitness as a career back home.


I came to teach at CITYROW because…
I broke my foot doing CrossFit a few years ago. While recovering, I became more intrigued by methods that would be low enough in impact to help me heal while still challenging me. CITYROW is the perfect, magical combination of high intensity/low impact exercise.

I love rowing because…
You can make it as challenging as you need it to be! The rower is an exciting piece of equipment that lets you create new drill combinations so you never get bored.

My teaching style is…
Just like the city that I’m from: in-your-face, edgy, spontaneous, and entertaining. That’s my class, baby!

You should take my class because…
I guarantee you will sweat, smile, laugh, and dance to some amazing tunes! Fitness should be fun, and I’m going to remind you of that one class at a time.


My music is…
MOTIVATING! Music plays a HUGE role not only in the classes I teach, but in my own personal workouts. It’s that little push you need to get you through the work. It spots you on those last few reps when you think you can’t keep going. Music sets the tone. Expect classic hip hop, tons of pop tunes, remixes of my favorite country songs (yes, I said country), and a little R&B. I’ve been known to have to say “Stop dancing, we’re about to row”!

CITYROW has changed me…
CITYROW has helped me to improve my conditioning as an athlete. I see a vast improvement in my own personal workouts. And since becoming a CITYROW instructor, I’ve noticed a little more pep in my step as I navigate life. It’s definitely been a boost to my confidence!


If I could have one celebrity take my class it would be…
You can’t ask me to just choose one!

I fuel up before and after class with…
A lean body protein shake. Chocolate is my favorite!

When I’m not teaching, you can find me…
At the gym working out on my own! Otherwise I’m grabbing food. I LOVE TO EAT.
